Yesterday I drove up to Sheboygan Falls, WI.
Sara Willadsen, a friend of mine from grad school and one of my favorite people, had a two-person show with
Liz Ann Lange at the Frank Juarez Gallery. It was a great exhibition; I thought their work complemented each other extremely well. Liz's luscious oil paintings of overlooked scenery and Sara's collaged conceptual spaces both abstract reality and capture something of the essence of Sheboygan life, albeit in very different ways. Their intuitive sense of color and decisive markmaking really rewards looking.
All in all, it was a most excellent day. Congrats Sara and Liz! Keep up the great work.
