Made in Camp 2023

 

It was such a treat to participate in this year's Made in Camp, an annual open studio day/gallery walk in Camp Washington. Thanks to Wave Pool Gallery, the American Sign Museum, and the Camp Washington Urban Revitalzation Corporation for organizing such a lovely day. My studio mates and I had the best time. 

For the last couple of years I've offered a free chalk pastel drawing demo out of my studio during Made in Camp. It's always fun to get technical with the materials. So grateful for all the students and friends who came by. You all made my day.

I'm honored to be contributing this piece to this year's Art For Life auction: an annual event that raises funds for Chicagoland organizations that help those in the community living with and/or who are vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.

Here's a sneak peek at a brand new painting. This was a fun one - there was something so mesmerizing about the green tape and the way it flickered in and out of focus behind the bubble wrap.

I loved working on this commission - the clients wanted a particular terra cotta color matched on the paper below the bowl... and if you know me, then you know color matching is one of my most favorite things ever. I had the best time mixing color swatches in order to get the flavor just right. Such a fun project.

Still at Southside Gallery

 

This past Friday was the opening reception for my first solo show with Southside Gallery. Thank you so much to Wil Cook and the Southside team for the warm welcome and lovely reception! The gallery is absolutely beautiful, and everyone I met was so kind. There are about 50 new paintings in the show; take a look at some of the pieces below or, if you're nearby, head over to Oxford, MS and see it in person. The show is up through May 27th.
